Ties between Cuba and Nicaragua in the educational sector were strengthened after a meeting between Cuban Minister Ena Elsa Velazquez with professors and students in two departments.
In the northern city of Esteli, the capital of the department of the same name, Velazquez gave a master lecture on good educational practices in Cuba, before an audience of professors and students, and top authorities from that region.

Previously, the Cuban minister visited the Francisco Luis Espinosa National Institute, a teacher’s training center, in the so-called Diamond of Segovias.

During the visit, Francisco Ramon Valenzuela, the political secretary of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) in Esteli, condemned the US blockade on Cuba and lauded Cuba’s development in education, scientific research, medicine, culture and sports, despite the circumstances imposed by Washington’s policy.

Valenzuela, who is also the mayor, highlighted the Cuban Revolution’s solidarity for six decades, particularly with Nicaragua, to which it has contributed in several sectors, like the Literacy Crusade and the declaration as an illiteracy-free territory in 2009.
